K. C.'s Story

Life I've had an interesting life so far. I've successfully shown horses and still am doing some training and giving lessons. I am a professional singer and have two cd's to my credit - one I wrote all the music and the other I wrote the music and did the singing, also. I manage several hundred acres of our family property where my nephew and I raise horses and bale hay. I have had a deeply loving relationship with the same person for the past 30 years and am proud of the children whose lives we have touched. Though there have been some very rough times in my life, I have learned a great deal from living and am proud of who I am today. I pray for Peace in the world and try to see God's hand in the lives of everyone I meet. I do not always succeed (who does?), but I give it my best shot. Sept, 2010 Our house burned down Jan 11th this year and we have spent the past months rebuilding it and our lives. It has been a challenge, but we survived as did all our animals. We have had to face the fact that "stuff" is just "stuff" no matter how much it means to us emotionally. Sometimes, we just have to let "stuff" go and live life in the now. As long as we have love, we can survive life. I never knew how many friends we had until we needed their help and I can never thank them enough for all they have done for us during this time of trial. God is good. We will move back into our rebuilt house the end of Sept. I am so tired of the stress and anxiety of rebuilding and...Expand for more
living in a travel trailer while trying to keep up with the rest of life, but at least I can see the end of this challenge. I have had to give up singing in the choir and playing in the BR Concert Band while all this has been going on and I miss my musical friends. I have made many more horse friends as that aspect of my work has grown. I am giving instructions and training horses now more than ever and enjoying both. Never knew I had so much "teacher" instinct but I feel good about what I am doing. I will be glad when life gets "back to normal" and we get back into the house. Feb 22,2011 We are back in the house and doing the finishing touches. I returned to Baton Rouge Concert Band playing my French horn and am singing at First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. I am still training horses and have a barn full right now. Since I do not care what breed they are, I am working a Thoroughbred/Paint and a Percheron along with the Quarter Horses and Paints already in the barn. I am also caring for my friend's Rocky Mountain Spotted Pony which is a gaited horse. My condolences to all my friends who have lost one or both of their parents...I well remember how difficult it is to realize that we are becoming the "older generation" and have to step up and take responsibility for ourselves and our choices for our children. Too scary! While I look toward the future, I never hesitate to remember the past and all the great people I have met along the way. Thank you all.
